A customer writes and, shortly after, sees a 👍 on their message. They know it arrived and that someone is on it, even before your team answers.
Before you start
- Wassenger connected to Zapier. If not yet, do it first: it takes 5 minutes.
- The Professional, Business or Enterprise plan. Reactions are not available on other plans.
- A number connected to the official WhatsApp Business API. If you connected your number by scanning a QR code, this recipe doesn't work with it.
- At least one message received on your number. If it is new, send it a WhatsApp from your own phone, so Zapier has one to show you.
1. Start a Zap with your WhatsApp messages
- In Zapier, click Create, then Zaps.
- Click Trigger and choose Wassenger.
- In Trigger event, choose New Incoming Message.
- Under Account, choose your Wassenger account. The first time, click Sign in and paste your API key.
- Click Continue.
- In WhatsApp Number, choose your number, then click Continue.
- Click Test trigger. Zapier shows your latest messages. Choose one you sent from your own phone and click Continue with selected record.
2. React to each message
- Click Action and choose Wassenger.
- In Action event, choose Send Reaction.
- Under Account, choose your Wassenger account, then click Continue.
- Fill in these fields and leave the others as they are:
- WhatsApp Number: the same number as in step 1.
- Phone Number: click it and choose From Number.
- Message ID: click it and choose Data Waba Id. It starts with wamid. Choose exactly this one: with any other ID, WhatsApp does not find the message.
- Emoji Reaction: 👍
- Click Continue, then Test step. The 👍 appears on your message in your WhatsApp.
Zapier may warn you about a possible loop, because the trigger and the action are both Wassenger. There is none: the Zap listens to the messages your customers send, and a reaction is not one of them.
3. Turn it on
Click Publish. From now on, every message your customers send gets a 👍 within a few minutes.
Questions
Can I use another emoji? Yes, any single emoji, like ✅ or 🙏.
Does the customer get a notification? WhatsApp shows the reaction on their message, as when a friend reacts. It does not count as a reply, so answer them as usual from your inbox.
