Your team lives in Slack, not in a WhatsApp inbox. With this Zap, every time a customer writes to your number, a message appears in the Slack channel you choose, with who wrote and what they said. Nobody misses a customer again.
Before you start
- Wassenger connected to Zapier. If not yet, do it first: it takes 5 minutes.
- A public Slack channel for the alerts, like #whatsapp.
- At least one message received on your number. If it is new, send it a WhatsApp from your own phone, so Zapier has one to show you.
1. Start a Zap with your WhatsApp messages
- In Zapier, click Create, then Zaps.
- Click Trigger and choose Wassenger.
- In Trigger event, choose New Incoming Message.
- Under Account, choose your Wassenger account. The first time, click Sign in and paste your API key.
- Click Continue.
- In WhatsApp Number, choose your number, then click Continue.
- Click Test trigger. Zapier shows your latest messages. Click Continue with selected record.
2. Post each message in Slack
- Click Action and choose Slack.
- In Action event, choose Send Channel Message.
- Under Account, click Sign in and sign in with Slack.
- Click Continue.
- In Channel, choose your channel.
- In Message Text, write New WhatsApp from and then click to add Chat Name, From Number and Message Body. It reads like this: New WhatsApp from Ana (+34600123456): Do you open on Saturday?
- Leave the other fields as they are. Click Continue, then Test step. The alert appears in your channel.
3. Turn it on
Click Publish. From now on, every message your customers send shows up in Slack within a few minutes.
Questions
Can my team answer from Slack? No. Slack only tells you a message arrived. Answer from your Wassenger inbox, where the whole conversation is.
I have several numbers. To get the messages of every number in one channel, leave WhatsApp Number empty in step 1. To send each number to its own channel, build one Zap per number.
