Every WhatsApp message your customers send lands in a Google Sheet on its own: who wrote, from which phone, what they said and when. Share it with your team, filter it, or use it to follow up on leads.
Before you start
- Wassenger connected to Zapier. If not yet, do it first: it takes 5 minutes.
- A Google Sheet with four columns in the first row: Date, Name, Phone and Message.
- At least one message received on your number. If it is new, send it a WhatsApp from your own phone, so Zapier has one to show you.
1. Start a Zap with your WhatsApp messages
- In Zapier, click Create, then Zaps.
- Click Trigger and choose Wassenger.
- In Trigger event, choose New Incoming Message.
- Under Account, choose your Wassenger account. The first time, click Sign in and paste your API key.
- Click Continue.
- In WhatsApp Number, choose your number, then click Continue.
- Click Test trigger. Zapier shows your latest messages. Click Continue with selected record.
2. Add each message to your sheet
- Click Action and choose Google Sheets.
- In Action event, choose Create Spreadsheet Row.
- Under Account, click Sign in and sign in with Google.
- Click Continue.
- Choose your spreadsheet and worksheet. Zapier shows your four columns.
- Click each column and choose:
- Date: Message Date
- Name: Chat Name
- Phone: From Number
- Message: Message Body
- Click Continue, then Test step. A new row appears in your sheet.
3. Turn it on
Click Publish. From now on, every message you receive is added as a new row within a few minutes.
Questions
The time in Date doesn't match my clock. Date is in UTC, the world reference time. In Madrid, for example, add one hour in winter and two in summer.
A photo or a voice note arrives with an empty message. The row shows who sent it and when. The file itself stays in your Wassenger inbox.
Can I save the messages of all my numbers? Yes: in step 1, leave WhatsApp Number empty. Every number of your account then adds its messages to the same sheet.
Does it save the messages I send? No, only the ones your customers send you.
